MONT ALTO, Pa. --- Carlow University women's soccer put more shots on target, but Penn State Mont Alto came up with a 1-0 victory over the Celtics in the season-opener Tuesday night.
The Lions (2-0) outshot Carlow 13-11, but the Celtics held a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Carlow forced Mont Alto's keeper to make three stops early on, but it was the Lions who found the back of the net first as Grace Lochner sent in a ball for Cameron Dillow who scored in the 21st minute.
The Celtics did not afford Mont Alto a single corner kick the entire game and held the Lions scoreless for almost 70 minutes after the first goal.
Elizabeth Knight (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) suffered the loss in net after making five stops in the complete game effort.
Amara Battista (South Park, Pa./South Park HS) notched two shots on goal for the Celtics.
